Terms of service
Last updated: August 2026
In plain English
You must be 18 or older, appear live on the video call, and use the service lawfully. Prices are shown up front, and a session we can't complete is refunded. One thing is on you: recipients set their own rules, so check that yours accepts electronic notarization. The legal version follows.
The service
Notarials provides remote online notarization: we connect you with commissioned notaries public who perform notarial acts over secure video in accordance with the laws of their commissioning jurisdiction.
Your responsibilities
You must be at least 18 years old, provide accurate identity information, and appear personally before the notary for your own documents. You may not use the service for documents you know to be fraudulent or for any unlawful purpose.
Notarial acts
Each notarial act is performed by an individual notary public acting under their own commission. The notary may refuse or terminate a session where the law requires it — for example if identity cannot be verified or the signer appears not to understand the document. Fees for sessions refused for legal reasons are handled case by case by support.
Payments
Prices are shown before you pay and are charged per notarization. Completed notarial acts are non-refundable. If a session cannot be completed for technical reasons on our side, you will not be charged or will receive a full refund.
Acceptance of notarized documents
While remote online notarization is legally valid in many jurisdictions, individual recipients (a bank, a court, a foreign authority) set their own acceptance policies. Confirming that your recipient accepts electronically notarized documents is your responsibility.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Notarials' liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid for the notarization in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are announced by email or in the app. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
